Dr Terng Chen founded the Brookmans Park Dental Practice in 1993 to offer private dental work in the Hertfordshire area. Since then Dr Sharif Islam has joined him, and they together have established an excellent reputation for patient care, and continue to attract new patients through the highest recommendations. Working alongside our two dentists is our hygienist Julia Roche, who with Dr Chen and Dr Islam firmly believes in preventive dentistry. The remainder of our team consists of Ann Piggott our practice manager, Wendy Davis our assistant practice manager and our two caring nurses, Trish Smith and Hope Zalwango.

Your first visit

Whatever your Dental health needs we always try to establish your current dental status with a thorough initial consultation. We undertake a careful and complete examination of your teeth, gums, soft tissues, jaw and bite. We may also take some x-rays if clinically necessary.

We pride ourselves in always adopting a preservative approach to dentistry, this means we will endeavour to save and preserve as much of your own teeth as possible. We will not advise unnecessary or excessive treatment.

We believe that children deserve special care, and we strive to emphasise the importance of dental health from an early age we therefore encourage children to visit us so that we can take care of their teeth from the start, it also lets them become accustomed to visiting the dentist.

We are open on a Saturday giving people who are too busy during the week time to have regular dental and hygiene appointments and have any treatment that may be required.

Practice plan

New patients of the practice may join our Dental Care Plan following their initial examination. Our Dental Care Plan helps you to budget for routine dental maintenance and membership entitles you to a 20% discount off other fees.

The dentist will advise you which plan is appropriate for you according to your clinical need. For example for plan B it is £14.05p a month taken by DD for this you get:

• Regular dental appointments, two per year(this varies depending on what plan you are on) to provide:
• clinical examination
• checking for signs of oral cancer
• x-rays where clinically necessary
• Regular hygiene appointments, two per year(this varies depending on what plan you are on) to provide:
• scale and polish
• periodontal advice
• preventive techniques to reduce decay and gum disease

• Assessment of emergencies and dental pain with any temporary treatment required, carried out at the practice during nomal surgery hours.
• 20% discount on any laboratory-based treatment required, i.e crowns bridges and dentures.
• 20% discount on any fillings
• 20% discount on other dental work (extractions, etc)
• 20% discount on any additional hygiene work.
• Worldwide Trauma Insurance to protect against the cost of large unforeseen accidental damage.
• Emergency callout insurance, should you need a dentist in an emergency, anywhere in the world.
• Redundancy protection for up to 12 months.
